How many crimes can someone commit before they are locked up for good! In this case not one someone, but two! Today, an otherwise ordinary day,  I woke up to the sadest news. In this news story the victims, a Cheshire, CT family, could just as easily had been me, just as easily had been you!A random act of brutality, a deadly home invasion, that included sexual assault, robbery, arson, and kidnapping. A random act that left a man, a prominent physician, without his family. His wife and two daughters killed in this brutal, horrible, tragedy!  Perhaps a tragedy that might never have happened if the keys to their jail cells were thrown away for good. The two men that commited this tragic crime both had a very long history of crime. One, it was told, had 28 arrests for burglary.The other a wrap sheet a mile long dating back to the 80’s. And there they were left to commit yet another crime! The day feels surreal. This tragedy hangs over me and I am sure many, many others, like a black cloud. How horrific for this family. We spend so much time worrying about terrorists when our own neighborhoods are full of criminals, many of these criminals, led to crime by drug addiction. Just drop into any courtroom and observe. See how many walk free everyday! Our jails have no room and our system has no cure. So you can have a wrap sheet a mile long and 28 crimes under your belt and walk away to comit another. Another bigger, sicker, more outrageous crime, one that went way out of control and caused an otherwise ordinary day, to effect the lives of all!
